How much is a ceramic coating?

Ceramic coatings require a trained skillset and numerous hours of labor. Our ceramic coatings start at $350 for an entry level option up to a few thousand dollars depending on the coating chosen, which package, and the scope of the work. Our blog post dives into more detail on how much ceramic coatings cost. https://www.thedetaildoc.co/post/how-much-is-a-ceramic-coating At The Detail Doc, we pride ourselves on transparency, openness, and education. How long do ceramic coatings last?

Ceramic coatings can last several years when maintained properly. This also depends on which coating you decide to have installed. An entry level 1 year coating is expected to last 1 year, this principle applies to our other coatings as well. Factors such as if the vehicle is garage kept, daily driven, and how it is maintained all contribute to how long a coating may last.

What does maintainance for a ceramic coating look like?

Ceramic coatings are not maintainance free, but maintaining a coating is much easier than a non-coated vehicle. Regularly washing the vehicle with a PH nuetral car soap using the two bucket wash method or a rinseless wash method will keep your coating looking and performing great. Tar, tree sap, and other contaminants will still need to be addressed but a coating will make maintainance much easier. What are the benefits to a ceramic coating?

Ceramic coatings protect your investment and preserve the surfaces they are applied to. They make cleaning and maintaining the vehicle very easy and save you time compared to using other forms of protection. Ceramic coatings provide a level of scratch resistance that can absorb scratches to prevent damage into the actual paint of your vehicle. Coatings provide a layer of protection and help prevent damage from UV rays, chemical burns, bug etchings, bird poop etchings, and water spotting. They also eliminate the need to constantly wax and seal your vehicle. In short, coatings... -Protect your investment from chemicals, UV fading, and etchings -Provide marring resistance to reduce swirl marks and can absorb some scratches -Give extreme ease of cleaning and maintainence -Eliminate the need to wax or seal the vehicle for the life of the coating -Achieve amazing gloss and aesthetic appearance At The Detail Doc, we pride ourselves on transparency, openness, and education. Are ceramic coatings scratch proof? - And other myths

Ceramic coatings are not scratch proof, they can still be scratched but the thing is that instead of the scratch being in your paint, the coating can help absorb the scratch into itself. Other myths: Ceramic coatings are not maitainance free Ceramic coatings are not fireproof and Ceramic coatings are not rock-chip proof In this blog post/video we dive into details about ceramic coating myths. https://www.thedetaildoc.co/post/addressing-ceramic-coating-myths

Can I install one myself?

Ceramic coatings require a trained skillset. We invest lots of time and money into the proper training and certifications in order to produce a quality product. A professional grade ceramic coating provides an unmatched level of protection and gloss that aren't typically seen in a consumer grade coating. In short, yes, you can install a consumer grade coating yourself. It is recommended that a professional do it for you though. We have all the neccesary tools, training, experience, and certifications that let us produce an amazing end product. Improper installation or improper preparation for a ceramic coating can lead to premature coating failure, undesirable results, a dulled finish, and high spots where the coating has been improperly removed.

Does my brand new car need the clay bar treatment and paint correction?

Yes, even brand new vehicles will need at minimum a light polish to clean the paint and remove any blemishes. Even brand new vehicles can have swirl marks, factory sanding marks, and other defects due to improper dealer washing and factory defects. This is extremely common so every vehicle we perform a mimimum of one stage of paint correction before installing a ceramic coating. This step is absolutely neccessary as an unpolished surface may have contamination or remenants of other protection that may inhibit the bonding of a ceramic coating.
